Nissan has joined forces with Akzo Nobel to introduce a joint training programme for the Nissan dealer network. The programme will deliver a comprehensive reference manual that identifies paint conditions occasionally seen on vehicles. To complement the manual there will be a series of training workshops held around the country starting from February 2008.
It is essential that all customer facing dealer staff are equipped to identify such conditions and can confidently explain and discuss with the customer, suggesting the appropriate action.
George Sneddon, Technical Consultant, at Akzo Nobel describes a typical scenario. “A customer presents a vehicle to a dealer with bonnet chipping, which could have a number of explanations including the possibility of a manufacturing defect. Delegates will better understand how to identify the other possibilities through the examination of neighbouring components, windscreen, number plates and wing mirrors to establish similar chipping. Similar chipping on these components could suggest a cause other than a paint defect.”
Ian Munton, Warranty Manager at Nissan, believes the programme will assist Nissan in their on going commitment to customer satisfaction. “The dealer network will be in a better position to advise customers of the appropriate action to remedy their concern which will undoubtedly assist in a better understanding by all parties,” he commented.
