Over 100 bodyshops have visited Sikkens to see the new UV clearcoat, Autoclear UV in action. Sikkens Autoclear UV outperforms every other clearcoat on the market, taking just 6 minutes to dry, offering bodyshops enormous potential to speed up throughput and increase profitability.

With twelve UV demo days held at Akzo Nobel car refinish head office in Oxfordshire, since the launch of the new Sikkens Autoclear UV interest is still growing and additional demo days are planned for June and July. With Autoclear UV seeing is believing, bodyshop owners and managers are amazed when Autoclear UV is applied and dried while they watch and they are able to handle the painted vehicle inside 6 minutes.

After exposing Autoclear UV to UV light at a distance of 10- 20 cm for a few seconds the curing process begins, within 6 minutes the panels are dry enough to be handled enabling them to be refitted to the vehicle immediately after curing. Typically a conventional clearcoat takes up to 35 minutes to dry in an oven. Time savings are also gained as no warm up and cooling down time is needed which reduces process times on average by a further 10 minutes.  The time savings mean that bodyshops with capacity problems in the paintshop can increase their throughput by up to 40%.
