Akzo Nobel’s revolutionary automotive clearcoat Sikkens Autoclear UV recently picked up another award when it received first prize in the Garage Equipment category of the Grands Prix Internationaux de l’Innovation Automobile at France’s Equip Auto 2007 event.
Developed by Car Refinishes business as an industry first, the product harnesses the power of ultra-violet to dry in just six minutes and has the potential to radically improve bodyshop capability.
Held in Paris, the International Grand Prix Awards for Automotive Innovation form part of the prestigious Equip Auto industry event. Launched in 1985, it aims to promote the technology of vehicle equipment manufacturers to a wider audience.
This year’s prizes were awarded by an international jury made up of 82 journalists from 28 countries. Sikkens Autoclear UV scooped the Gold Trophy in its category. The accolade follows success in both the Bodyshop Awards 2007 and the Motor Trader Awards 2007 where the clearcoat scooped the Innovation Award at each event.
